22nd October – Bake Off UPDATE
This month’s meeting is our Great Sweethearts Bake Off! Don’t worry, Mary Berry is busy, so we’ll be doing all the tasting and judging ourselves!
We’ll be holding our annual AGM first and there’ll be an opportunity to join the WI (and if you join this month, you get three months free as you won’t be asked to renew until January 2015!)
The five categories for the GSBO are:
- Large cakes
- Small cakes / cupcakes
- Tray bake
- Pastry and biscuits
- Savoury bakes
You can only enter one bake per category but you can enter as many categories as you like. There will be prizes for the winners in each category.

Could you please tell me if all your meetings are craft based as I would LOVE to join if you had speakers as I haven’t got a craft bone in my body apart from cooking!
Hi Carole, we try to have a variety of activities, but we are more about doing and chatting than sitting and listening! You could come along this Tuesday with or without baked goods and get a feel for it? At any meeting you can do as little or as much as you like with our activities… Will be listing next year’s meetings very soon and they’re not all crafts but they are generally hands on, you never know you might find something you can do (cocktail making!) and we can guarantee you’ll have fun at least finding out!
