25th February – Cake Decorating

Nikki Baron from The Blue Moon Bakery will be coming along and giving us some quick demonstrations on fondant roses, using moulds and cutters, simple piping and colouring icing before helping us to get creative with buttercream and fondant!

If you have any cake decorating bits and pieces please do bring them along i’ve put a list of items at the bottom that would be especially helpful to bring along if you have any of them.  We will be bringing some basic cupcakes to decorate as well as quite a lot of buttercream icing for everyone to use, but again if you feel like being prepared please feel free to bring some along with you.

There will also be a chance to win some of her cupcakes with the best fondant rose not to mention our usual raffle with some cake related goodies!

Things to bring if you have them:

Small work mat (silicon type)
Petal cutters
Cookie cutters various shapes and sizes
Ball tool
Any moulds you might have
Cocktail sticks
Small Acrylic Rolling Pin
Pipiing bag and nozzles
Small bowl
Foam Pads
If you want to have a go at making some buttercream to bring along Nikki suggests the following quantities give a good consistency:
170g unsalted butter
340g icing sugar
Two tablespoons water
Vanilla essence
